About Us
Marching Guys Handicraft Group was started in 2005 with 10 founding members and attained it's registration in on October 14, 2007. Its aim was to help bring its members out of poverty and the problems facing micro businessmen and street vendors (Machinga in Swahili) and doing business on the areas that are appointed by teh government. We aim to help the government fighting calamaties facing environment, HIV/AODS, drug abuse, corruption by developing ourselg by learning about craftsmanship.
HISTORY
Marching Guys Handicraft Group was founded by crafsmen after the government chased away all microbusinessmen and street vendors (machinga) from the city center of Dar es Salaam in oder to keep the city clean and reduce the accumulation of street vendors and all businesses that did not ahve particular ocations for doing business. Hence, we decided to start this group. We were trained on microbusiness by international firms. The training made our members more aggressive and hence the group was registered in 2007 officially.
VISION
To forsee that culture becomes the center in giving educaiton and trainings to increase economy of the society.
MISSION
We aim to sustain and develop Tanzanian culture by starting large networks in order to help the governmen in fighting the calamaties by educating and training the society so as to start groups for their development and envoronmental protection.
ACTIVITIES
1. To creat new Tanzanian crafts
2. To look for markets, fairs and festivals
3. To educate other micro business men
4. To look for and developm new talents
5. To start new projects that are more profitable and health to environment
6. To help the government in fighting the stigma of HIV/AIDS infected persons and to educate people on STI's, genital matriculation, drug abuse and corruption.
